nbn plans

Three plans, one price each.

Unlimited data, no lock-in contract and no setup fee on all three. The difference is speed, and how nbn connects your place decides which plans you can get.

Side by side

What each plan runs at depends on the line. On copper, the last stretch caps what Boost can do and rules Ultra out. Here’s exactly what you get on each.

On every plan

Whichever speed you pick, this part stays the same.

Unlimited data
No caps, no shaping and no throttling, at any time of day.
No lock-in contract
Month to month. Cancel from your account whenever you like: there’s no exit fee, and we refund the days you’ve paid for but won’t use.
No setup fee
You pay for month one when you order, and it doesn’t start until your service is live.
Billing you can predict
Monthly in advance, on the day you went live. No late fees and no card surcharge. Bank transfer instead of automatic card payments if you’d rather.
IPv6, and a public IPv4 if you want one
A native IPv6 /60 on every plan. IPv4 is shared (CGNAT) by default; your own public IPv4 is $10 a month, charged by the day, on or off from your account.
Bring your own router
No PPPoE, no VLAN, no username or password. Plug it in and it gets an address. We’ll help you set it up.
Your traffic, left alone
We don’t prioritise, slow down or block apps or websites (unless the law requires it, or briefly to stop an attack), and we never sell your data.
People who run the network
Email hello@nyx.net.au or call 02 4398 7081, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (NSW time, except public holidays). The people who answer are the people who fix it.

Worth knowing before you order

Every plan has limits. Here they are up front, so none of them turns up as a surprise after you’ve ordered.

It’s internet only
There’s no phone line or voice service, and it can’t call 000, so keep a mobile handy. If you have a medical or security alarm, read important information first.
nbn fixed-line only
FTTP, HFC, FTTC, FTTB and FTTN. We don’t sell nbn Fixed Wireless or Satellite. Connection types explained
Copper lines top out at 100/20
On FTTC, FTTB and FTTN, Boost runs at 100/20 and Ultra isn’t available. Some FTTN and FTTB lines can’t reach even that. If yours can’t reach the plan you chose, we move you to one it can and refund the difference back to the day you went live, or you can leave without paying anything more.
Ultra needs a gigabit router
Its WAN port has to be gigabit or faster. A slower port caps the whole connection at the port’s speed.
nbn sometimes charges for work at your place
A new development charge, a new connection box for Boost or Ultra on some FTTP and HFC premises, or moving nbn equipment at your request. We tell you the amount and get your OK before ordering the work, then pass it on at cost on your next invoice.
Best efforts, no SLA
Our standard service level is best efforts, with no guaranteed repair time, for homes and businesses alike. If you depend on a connection for your health or safety, keep a mobile as a backup.

Questions before you choose

Something we haven’t covered? The help centre has more, or email hello@nyx.net.au.

Which plan should I choose?

Think about the busiest hour in your house. Essential suits one or two people browsing, streaming and on video calls. Boost suits a busy household: 4K streaming in a few rooms, gaming, big downloads and uploading video. Ultra is for lots of devices and people moving big files, on FTTP or HFC.

Not sure? Start smaller. You can move up from your account whenever you like.

Which plans can I get at my address?

It depends on how nbn connects your place. Essential works on every fixed-line connection. Boost runs at 500/50 on FTTP and HFC and at 100/20 on FTTC, FTTB and FTTN. Ultra needs FTTP or HFC. Check your address and we’ll only show you what your place can actually get.

What does “typical evening speed” mean?

It’s the speed we expect you to get between 7pm and 11pm, when the whole street is online. Ours are initial estimates until we have three months of our own measurements. More in broadband speeds.

How does billing work?

You pay for your first month when you order. That month starts on the day your service goes live, not the day you order. If we can’t connect you, or you cancel before then, we refund it in full.

After that we bill monthly in advance, on the same day each month, and charge the card on your account automatically. Every invoice shows the dates it covers. No late fees, no card surcharge. If you’d rather not use automatic card payments, ask us and pay each invoice by bank transfer.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, up or down, from your account. The change happens when nbn completes it, usually within a day or two. The price difference for the rest of the month you’ve paid for is added to your next invoice for an upgrade, or credited on it for a downgrade.

Can my price go up?

Only with at least 30 days’ notice by email. A new price starts from the first renewal after the notice period ends, so a month you’ve already paid for never changes, and you can leave before it applies at no cost.

Do I need a public IP address?

Most people don’t. Your IPv4 address is shared with other customers (CGNAT), which is fine for browsing, streaming and video calls, and every plan has a native IPv6 /60.

If you host a game server, reach cameras or a home lab from outside, or need port forwarding over IPv4, add your own public IPv4 for $10 a month. You pay only for the days it’s on. Turning it on or off changes your IPv4 address and drops the connection for about 30 seconds; we warn you first. How addressing works

Do I need a new router?

Probably not. On FTTP, HFC and FTTC, any router with an Ethernet WAN port that supports DHCP works. On FTTN and FTTB you need a VDSL2 modem-router that supports vectoring. There’s no username or password to enter. Setup guide

What happens when I cancel?

Cancel any time from your account, or ask us. It takes effect straight away, there’s no exit fee, and we refund the unused days of the month you’ve paid for to the card you paid with.

Picked one? Check your address.

We check with nbn while you wait and show you which plans your place can get, with the monthly price.
