NYX Internet is the internet brand of The IT Dept Pty Ltd, an Australian network operator. We run our own network and answer our own phone, so the people you talk to are the people who can fix it.

We do the parts that matter ourselves: the network, the billing and the support. Nobody here reads from a script, and there’s no one further down the line to hand you over to.
nbn brings the line to your door. From there your connection lands on our broadband gateway, on our own network (AS152590), with routing and addressing we run. That’s how we can give every plan native IPv6, tell you what speed to expect in the evening, and actually see the problem when you call about one.
The network has its own name, Underlay. When you see “Built on Underlay” around the site, it means the routers, gateways and addresses behind your connection are ours.
Decisions we made on purpose
Most of what makes NYX different is a choice somebody made deliberately. These are the ones you’ll notice.
- Sell every plan on its evening speed
- Each plan is sold on what it typically does between 7 and 11pm, when the whole street is online. They’re our initial estimates until we have three months of measurements, and we say so.
- No PPPoE, no username, no password
- Your router gets its address by DHCP, untagged, the way modern networks work. Nothing to type in wrong at 10pm. Bring your own router and we’ll help you set it up.
- IPv6 on every plan, from day one
- A native IPv6 /60 on every plan, not a trial you have to ask for. IPv4 is shared by default; your own public IPv4 is $10 a month, on or off from your account.
- Problems go on the status page
- When something breaks, it goes on our network status page with what’s happening and what happens next, and it stays there until it’s fixed.
- No late fees, no debt collectors
- No late fees and no card surcharges. We never sell debts, use debt collectors or list defaults. If paying gets hard, talk to us early and we’ll work something out.
- Your details stay with us
- We keep your account in Australia, on infrastructure we run. We don’t sell your data, we don’t advertise, and this website sets no tracking cookies.
